Hardened hearts

Hearts become hard or soft by the things we are sensitive to, the things we give time to, and the things we think about. If we are shocked when we see God do a miracle, it means our hearts are hardened towards the things of God. We should be so consumed with God that seeing the miraculous is normal.

God is a God of miracles, and he even told his disciples that they would do greater things than he did. We serve a God who is alive and he is still greater than he that is in the world. Plus, that indwelling power lives in all his children. If we have that same power in us, we should expect God to do some mighty things in us and through us and around us. This does not mean we need to chase after miracles, because Jesus wants us to love Him before we seek the stuff that he can give.

Our hearts will soften as we open ourselves to the things of God. Whatever we apply our mind to, and give time in our minds to, that is where our heart will be soft.
