We are weak

Romans 12:2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We are so weak as Christians. We are so useless. We listen to the preaching of the word every week, and we are seldom moved to change. We pay lip service to serving God, and being a son or a daughter of God, but we are full of selfish desires and the lust of the flesh.
Right now we are doing a series on prayer at our church. It is a great series, inspired by Phillip Yancee’s book – Prayer – do we need it? We have been appealing to people in the last months to come and join in prayer at the church. How many people do you think have joined? None? That would be right. And if you are reading this and thinking about how bad “they are”, chances are you are no different. Do you go and pray at your church prayer meeting?
We say we want power and we want to live a victorious Christian life, but we are so selfish (full of self) that there is no room for Christ. And so we go through the motions of play play Christianity, wondering why the Muslims are so fanatical, enough to sacrifice and blow themselves up in the belief they are doing a great act of service to their God .
The secret is in transforming our minds. Transformation comes by renewing. Renewing is a regular process. If we don’t renew we will continue to live according to the pattern of this world. Renewing your mind, means studying and reading God’s word and getting down to pray. God has given us the manual for daily living and it is the Bible. We just need to read it some time.
