Speak up

Romans 10:10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
There is a real truth to this. The illustration of coming to God and being saved shows the God given pattern. We believe and have faith in our hearts and when we do so, we are justified. But faith always has an outworking, there is always some action in faith. In this case the action is to speak and confess with the lips and when we do so we are saved.
It does not say we are saved for just believing. You have to confess it. So, it again the balance of grace and faith. So much of what God does is through word. In fact Jesus is the word become flesh (John 1:1), and we hear that man should live by every word that comes out of God’s mouth. God speaks the word and he spoke the world and man into existence by words. Jesus literally became the word of God and we see the Bible as the word of God, which contains all the wisdom for life on earth. And as I saw a couple of days ago, God hidden the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in his son.
We read that Jesus says if we confess him before his father, he will confess us too. Confession is speaking the word. So, if we are saved by speaking the word of our belief, then surely this is the pattern for our life as we continue. We believe in our heart, as we hear the word. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word. As we believe, so we should speak, because this is the outworking of our belief. As we speak it, so God can bring it into reality.
This is good stuff.
