Get the revelation

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint
As leaders we have a responsibility to get the revelation. Revelation is the understanding and the interpreting of the word of God. Revelation comes by the Spirit. In the above verse it is clear that the problem here is not with the people. The people will do what the people will always do, and that is be led in the way which is right or will lose their way and just go off. The problem is the leaders need to get the revelation and share this with the people.
There is only one way to get revelation and that is to meditate on the word. Meditating takes time, and it takes consistency. You cannot meditate if you read the word one day a week. You just cannot connect, it is like human relationships. The relationship one has with one’s spouse can teach us so much about our relationship with God. If you neglect your spouse, you will feel the fall out and the repercussions. It will take a serious connecting and usually that will go with some blow up and a clearing the air and a reconciliation. But you cannot be successful in a part time relationship.
So the challenge as leaders si we need to get the revelation and share it. Just like we need to have the vision. Our church vision for 2010 is to evangelise the city to transform society. It is a wonderful vision. The revelation however for me, is that if the result of this is to make disciples, then this starts at home and with our youth.
