Setting the example
Mar 28
Jesus set the example for us in all things. He showed us how to not judge one another, he showed us how to be patient with people, and how to forgive others. He showed us how to love our neighbour and he showed us how to have compassion for sinners.
He also showed us how to learn the word of God and then to apply it using faith. Jesus said I can do nothing unless the father shows me. In Luke 2 we see Jesus in the temple listening to the teachers of the law, learning the word of God. He shows us how to be diligent in studying the word of God.
Luke 2:52And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
The word says in Luke 2:52 that Jesus grew in wisdom. He grew. That means he continuously studied and learned. He displayed the perfect example when he was coming down to Jerusalem in Luke 19:28. he tells two of his disciples to go to the next town and they will find a donkey. How did he know there would be a donkey? I believe it was because he knew the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 which says:
9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!
Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king [a] comes to you,
righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Because Jesus had spent time studying the prophets, he knew that the scriptures said he would come to town riding on a donkey. Since the time had come and he had no donkey, he knew that his father would provide. So in faith, he instructs his disciples to go to the most logical place. And there they found the donkey just as Jesus had said.
