Romans 4:20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God.

Abraham believed God, even when the word says “he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead” and yet he never weakened his faith. Abraham stared at impossibility and then weighed it up against the word of God. He found that he had more belief in the word of God than in nature itself.

Wow, but that is quite something. How do we learn to believe in this way? I think it comes down to one thing – how well do you know him? When I watch my daughter or son, I have learned to understand and read their actions, so much so that I usually know what they will do, where their limits are and when they will stand firm and when they may buckle. I have learned to know my wife – tell her a secret and it will go down to the grave with her. So if someone says my wife let out a secret that they asked her not to, I will refuse to believe it. She does not go there. She just does not.

So, when we know God so well that when he says “X” it must be so, even if nature itself and life itself says it is impossible, then it will be so. Just because he said so. How do I get to know God in that way? By spending time with him. Reading thew word of God is more for me than for him. He is not pleased just because I read the word. He is pleased to spend time with me, but God does not want me doing all these tasks so i can be with him. He just wants to hang with me. I read the word because that is how I can get to know him and it is how I can build my faith. Prayer is not for God, so I can make him pleased and he can do stuff. Prayer is for me, so i can build my faith.

So much to learn.
