Good Friday
Apr 2
John 19:11Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
Today is Good Friday. It is probably the most pivotal day in the history of the Christian calendar. It is the day that I remember that Jesus was crucified and how he laid down his life for us and how he paid for our sins. As Jesus came to the end of his time on Earth, he displayed why he is God. He demonstrated and again he demonstrated by this verse that he decided to lay down his life and that no one had any power over him. The entire essence of Christianity is that God sent his son to lay down his life for us. Jesus said that I lay down my life for you, no one takes my life from me. In this passage, Pilate says that he has the power of death or life over Jesus Christ, but Jesus reminds him that he only has power if it is given to him from above.
In another passage of Scripture, Jesus tells us that no greater love has this than a man lay down his life for a friend. Jesus showed that this in action not only in words. Jesus is a really good laid down his life for his friends, and furthermore he laid down his life for those who did not count in a separate. The Bible says that while we were still at enmity with God Jesus he still loved us. The symbol of Christianity is the cross, and today is a celebration of the saddest moment in human history, in Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross. It may be the saddest day but it is also the most glorious day.
